What Does the CSC Scholarship Cover?

Eligibility Criteria for 2027

To qualify for the CSC Scholarship, applicants must meet the following general requirements:

• Citizenship: Must be a non-Chinese citizen in good physical and mental health.
• Education & Age Limits:
  • Undergraduate Programs: High school graduate under the age of 25.
  • Master’s Programs: Bachelor’s degree holder under the age of 35.
  • Doctoral Programs: Master’s degree holder under the age of 40.

Types of CSC Scholarships

1. Type A (Bilateral Program): Applications processed through dispatching authorities, such as the Chinese Embassy or Consulate in your home country.
2. Type B (University Program): Applications submitted directly to specific Chinese universities that are authorized to recruit independent CSC candidates.
3. Type C (Other Programs): Specialized regional or multilateral cooperation programs.

Required Documents Checklist

Prepare electronic copies of these documents ahead of time:

• CSC Application Form (Filled out online and downloaded)
• Valid Passport Copy (Bio-data page with adequate validity)
• Notarized Highest Diploma / Degree Certificate (or official proof of student status if graduating soon)
• Academic Transcripts (From undergraduate level onwards, with notarized translations if not in English or Chinese)
• Study Plan or Research Proposal (Minimum 1,000 words, particularly detailed for graduate/PhD applicants)
• Two Recommendation Letters from professors or associate professors
• Foreigner Physical Examination Form (Completed in English, issued within the last 6 months)
• Certificate of Non-Criminal Record (Police clearance certificate)
• Language Proficiency Proof (HSK certificate for Chinese-taught programs, or IELTS/TOEFL for English-taught programs).

How to Apply

Applications generally open between December and April each year for the intake starting in September.

1. Visit the official application portal to register your account.
2. Choose your preferred scholarship type (Type A, B, or C) and enter the corresponding Agency Number.
3. Fill out the application form, upload your scanned documents, and submit them before your targeted university or embassy deadline.
